Usage
You can use almost the entire lemongrass plant, but the main edible parts are the stalks. The leaves can add flavour too, but they’re often tough and hard to eat. For example, you can steep the leaves in a broth or tea to infuse their taste, then discard them before serving.
Tea
Lemongrass can help with colds and flu. To make lemongrass tea, bruise the stalks and steep them in hot water. Its soothing, refreshing properties can help clear a stuffy nose and calm your throat.
Combine
Lemongrass is a versatile, aromatic flavour booster in Asian dishes. You can finely chop it and add it to curries, soups, marinades or dressings for a fresh citrus note. You can also use it to make tea or stir it into cocktails for an exotic twist. Don’t forget to remove the tough outer leaf and use only the tender inner core.
