Turnips are round, bulb-shaped vegetables with smooth skin. They have a fairly mild flavour with a bit of a peppery kick, which is why they’re rarely eaten on their own. Best to combine them with other vegetables — from BelOrta, of course 😉. Turnips work well in both hot and cold dishes. You’ll mostly find them in hearty winter meals, like a good old-fashioned stew, as their season runs from October to February. Tip: young turnips are often sweeter and don’t need peeling — just give them a rinse and they’re ready to cook!
