About the family Goossens

In the heart of Malderen, you’ll find the family business run by Marc Goossens and his sons, Dominiek and Vincent. Established in 1989, it began with asparagus and has since grown into a versatile farm producing asparagus, Brussels sprouts and soil-grown chicory. The Goossens family is known for its expertise, modern approach and passion for high-quality seasonal vegetables.

Quality comes first

What drives them in their work? “Every year, growing crops means taking on a new challenge and seeing it through successfully,” Marc explains. The journey from seed to shop shelf is full of obstacles. Despite these challenges, they do everything they can to deliver top quality.

What would they like consumers to know? “A lot more work and care goes into a product than people often realise. When people visit us or see the process up close, they are often amazed. It is wonderful to receive that appreciation.”

And a tip from the grower: “Buy local and choose seasonal vegetables. It is better for flavour, your health and the environment.”

Stronger together with BelOrta

“BelOrta is a very practical and reliable partner for us,” says Marc. “You get support whenever you need it, whether with logistics or advice. We have been members of a growers’ association from the very beginning. That connection with fellow growers and the cooperative makes us stronger.”

Did you know?

“Did you know that 1 kg of Brussels sprouts contains four times as much vitamin C as an orange?” Marc says. “Another reason to put them on the menu more often!”
