Less juice
If you’re looking for a tomato with less juice, go for the Prince tomato. It doesn’t spill when you cut it either.
Pairing Prince tomatoes with herbs
Basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary and parsley pair perfectly with the full flavour of the Prince tomato. For a fresher combination, you can also use mint or chives. Add dried herbs earlier when preparing hot dishes, and add fresh herbs just before serving.
Peeling tomatoes
Make a small cross in the skin at the bottom of the tomato. Immerse it in boiling water for about 20 to 30 seconds, then immediately place it in ice-cold water. The skin will loosen and can be removed easily.
Stuffed tomatoes
Cut the top off the tomato and carefully scoop out the inside with a spoon. Then leave the tomato to drain upside down. Avoid using a filling that is too wet and place the stuffed tomatoes close together in an oven dish, so they stay upright while baking.
Prince tomatoes can be filled with ingredients such as minced meat, rice, couscous, quinoa, tuna, feta, mozzarella or finely chopped vegetables.
Ripen tomatoes faster
Are your tomatoes still too firm to eat? Help them ripen faster by placing an apple next to them for a few hours or up to a day. Apples produce more ethylene, which speeds up the ripening process in tomatoes.
