In 1999, Frank and his wife Katrijn took over the business from his father-in-law, who grew cauliflower and leeks. “We continued with these crops until 2014, when we switched to organic farming,” says Frank. “It wasn’t an easy transition, but we’ve now expanded to 16 hectares,” he adds.
At the moment, they grow cauliflower, leeks and green celery. “We need a wide crop rotation to keep potential diseases under control,” says Katrijn. Looking ahead, Frank and Katrijn want to invest in new techniques to further improve their crops.
Free time
In his free time, Frank enjoys working on machinery. Katrijn loves spending time with the children and the horses. The De Keyzer family’s favourite dish is baked leeks and minced meat with cheese sauce.
