Golden Delicious is also known as the ‘banana apple’ because of its smooth yellow skin and sweet flavour. As it ripens, the skin changes from green to golden yellow: the yellower the skin, the sweeter the fruit. The flesh is yellow-white and juicy, with a lovely sweet-tart and aromatic taste.
Golden Delicious apples are not suitable for cooking or baking because they completely fall apart. For this reason, they are ideal for making apple sauce or baby food.
You can definitely use the Golden Delicious apple in recipes, but it’s often best enjoyed as an eating apple.
