Cucumber

Cucumber is one of the most consumed vegetables in Belgium. You can recognise it by its typical long, green shape. Cucumber is the ultimate thirst quencher among vegetables. Did you know it’s made up of over 95% water? Perfect for staying hydrated!

Smart
tips

With skin

It’s best to eat cucumbers with the skin on, as it’s the most nutritious part.

Storage

Actually, cucumbers don’t need to be kept in the fridge—in fact, they can go limp faster there. Store them in a cool, dark place outside the fridge instead.

Refreshing

Did you know a cucumber is 95% water? That makes it a wonderfully refreshing snack on hot days!

Growing Method

BelOrta’s cucumbers are grown in greenhouses, both in substrate and in soil. When grown in substrate, the cucumbers grow on a kind of rock wool, where nutrients are carefully controlled. When grown in soil, the cucumbers draw natural nutrients from the earth. These different growing methods affect the growth and quality of the cucumbers.
