In 1985, Eric Van den Eynde took over his parents’ tomato nursery. Fifteen years later, he decided to start fresh at a new location. He set up a 2-hectare greenhouse and began growing cucumbers and tomatoes. At first, cucumbers were only grown in summer, but for the past three years, they’ve been growing cucumbers year-round.
The Van den Eynde family isn’t planning to expand their crop range just yet, but they are busy increasing the greenhouse area.
“A big challenge for us is making sure the growing process matches the weather,” says Lander.
Outside of work, Eric and Lander enjoy cycling together. “When we have free time and the weather’s good, dad and I like to go for a bike ride,” says Lander.
